Henrik C Baecker
MD, PhD
Spine Surgeon
Dr Baecker is a consultant spine surgeon at Auckland City Hospital, specialising in acute spinal injuries, complex spinal surgeries, revision surgeries and spinal tumour surgery since 2023. He is double fellowship-trained, holds multiple doctorates, a PhD, and has authored more than 76 peer-reviewed publications while supervising doctoral research in orthopaedic, trauma, sports and spine science. He collaborates closely with University of Auckland where he holds an honorary Associate Professor title.
Alongside his academic leadership, Dr Baecker brings a strong focus on function and recovery. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he prioritises treatments that restore mobility and long-term quality of life. Care is personal and collaborative: every plan is made with the patient, and surgery is recommended only when it offers clear benefit. Patients can expect precise, evidence-based decision-making focused on durable outcomes and long-term wellbeing.
